Callie Harper is one of those Authors that I love to get my hands on her new books!! All I Need truly ripped my heart apart and the feels!! O.M.G!!! Totally gut-wrenching but such a touching story. Ian and Annie’s journey was anything but easy. While my heart broke for Ian there were many times I just wanted to punch him. Grab your tissues …I guarantee you’ll need them!
Ian was seriously injured as a teenager and left with an incomplete spinal injury as well as severe burns. After many years of treatments and surgeries nothing had been successful. He was still unable to walk and was in pain and got around in a wheelchair. Needless to say, his disposition sucked.
Annie, was the polar opposite of Ian. She was a sweet and such a positive person. After her dad had died she stepped up and help her mother with her siblings. At 25 she decided that it was time that she get a job to earn and save money so that she could leave home to study.
Ian is an American born Scottish, he’s heir to the family’s distillery, which makes scotch. As he comes of age he’s decides to move to the family’s castle in Scotland. Isolating himself there from people who cared about him. Hiding away in the castle allows him to slide further into depression and succumb to the constant use of pain killers and alcohol.
Seeing the mess his son was in Ian’s dad decided he needed to have a caretaker there with him. This is where Annie enters. I loved how her cheerful, upbeat and had just enough sass to awaken something inside Ian. How the walls that Ian had built would start to crumble. Annie helped him want to be a better person. Not only that but he started to have feelings for her. Although he questioned could he love someone like her.
There was an indisputable current between them from the very start. While Ian’s darkness wanted to awaken Annie’s innocence he knew that this would have to happen slowly. The two of them were sizzling together. Until they weren’t …. when Ian drove Annie away in a drunken stupor.
It was a year before their paths would cross again. During this time, much had changed for both of them. But what would the future hold for them?
I can’t tell you how much I loved this book. A broken man with so much pain and resentment. This angelic woman who had given up so much for her family. Annie, the light in Ian’s darkness.
Heartbreaking yet so much hope for them to find happiness.
