Spider is unlike any book that I remember. It’s is so much more than just a stepbrother book. It’s a forbidden romance, it’s a second chance romance, with tons of angst and filled with pure, raw emotion. It’s heartfelt yet at times heartbreaking. It’s about two broken people that have an instant connection but each has so much baggage to deal with. AND, yes plenty of white hot sexy times and chemistry that rocks!

It’s the story of two people from very different backgrounds, whose life intersects with each other at different times in their lives. It left me wondering was it really fate or some other higher power that brought them together at these times.

Eleven-year-old Rose grew up living in tin-town, an impoverished area of Dallas. Life was rough for her, yet even at her young age she has learned to fend for herself. It’s at one of those times that she runs away from home. Running away from her mother’s scary boyfriend fearing what he might do. Both cold, wet and hungry she found herself witnessing a drug deal going down. When the guy who just bought the drugs saw her there was something that spoke to him. Something in her eyes that he identifies with. Through this connection he ends up giving her money for food as well as his phone number to call him if she needs help.

Six years later, Rose, now 17, is flying home to visit her mother’s and her new husband. It’s on this trip that she meets Spider. Spider is British, cocky, arrogant and definitely a lady’s man as witnessed at the ticket counter. He also ends up sitting in the seat next to Rose. She recognizes him as part of a rock band that’s on their way up. Even though he doesn’t do relationships there is something about Rose that he connects with. Needless to say, that connection goes both ways. It’s then he kisses her. That is when she falls for him hook, line and sinker.

It’s soon after that he knows that she is too good for him. She is a woman with a plan for a future, school, a career, as well as underage. But Spider is a real mess…with drugs, booze and women she deserves better than that. To bring the instant attraction he knows what he has to do. Then he bangs the flight attendant, crushing Rose and making me want to throttle him.

Finding her mom Rose is introduced to her new stepdad. Now imagine Rose’s surprise when she’s told she also has a stepbrother. As her stepbrother appears it’s a total WTF moment especially since her stepbrother is none other than Spider. Even though Rose was hurt by Spider’s actions on the plane the attraction is still there. The desire to be together would prove hard especially when Spike is forbidden by his dad to see Rose.

What does the future hold for Spike and Rose? Are there too many obstacles for them to overcome?

Spider is one hell of a book and a definite MUST READ!!. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and your heart pounding.
