MARY’S 5 STAR REVIEW
WOW, just WOW! Lost was amazing!! A second chance love story but with mind blowing twist to it. Carrie’s writing was cunning, intense and sucks you right in. It’s about Charlotte Morsey and Tucker Lynch, childhood friends that both grew up in dysfunctional families.
Charlotte Morsey, Char, was kind of the nerd girl. She never had many friends and you could always find her reading. Her mother orchestrated her life filling it with dance and music lessons plus whatever else she deemed needed for her. Rather than fight her mom Char just accepted it as her life’s fate and did what was expected of her rather than live life as she wanted.
Tucker Lynch, Tuck, was like the polar opposite of Char. He was popular, had lots of friends and was a football star. Tucks dad discovered at an early age that he had a talent playing football so his thing was to push Tuck to become a star athlete. et no matter how hard Tucker worked, even though he excelled at the sport, his dad would always criticize him.
Growing up Charlotte and Tucker were close as youngsters. I guess somehow they both knew that they were more than friends but at that age didn’t know what to do. As they got older Charlotte watched from a distant as she lost her friend Tucker who began to run with a different crowd. She lost not only her innocence but also her heart to Tucker when he abandoned her without a word.
Years later with a broken engagement, isolating her parents, and working as an analyst she wasn’t really living much of a life. That would all change early one morning at the bank she worked at when she would find herself looking down the barrel of a gun. Not only was she being robbed at gunpoint. As she was carefully observing the robber she recognized who the person on the other end of the gun! It was none other than her friend Tucker Lynch, the person who had broken her heart years ago.
Addressing Tucker by name just added another layer of complication for him too. Now identified Tucker knew he could not leave the bank without taking Charlotte with him. And with the added hitch to his plan Tucker left with Charlotte in tow. It didn’t take long for Charlotte to realize that Tucker was not only a man lost but that this lost man had succumbed to an addiction to heroin.
Seeking refuse in a youth summer camp Charlotte knew she was at Tucker’s mercy. Could she trust him to keep her safe? Would he continue to threaten her? What would happen when he was caught? Will this be the end Charlotte and Tucker?
This has to be one of the best books that I have read so far this year! I am totally in love with the story. The only problem with it is waiting for book 2, FOUND, for the conclusion. Totally a thriller and 5 star read.
