Excerpt:
The fallen papers crunched beneath my boot as I shifted my weight, leaning into her, seeking an answer. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
She flinched, her eyes closing beneath an avalanche of pain.
This hurt.
Everything hurt.
“Della…please.” My calloused thumbs caressed her silky-soft skin, catching on her young perfection with my older imperfection.
Ten years separated us.

While Ren and Della were thrown together by circumstances beyond their control, they will spend a lifetime together. We see them as a 10 ten old boy and an infant which he raises like a parent learning there is more to life than the torture and abuse he endured but also learning the capacity to care and love. A young man’s love, to give this young girl everything he did not have, an opportunity to excel in life. Also, the ultimate kind of love…the capacity to love so completely and endlessly it transcends time! These two were soulmates!!
But this love wasn’t without complications. Growing up as brother and sister, although there was not related by blood. Ren fought with the moral question of was it perverted or wrong to feel what he felt for Della when had been parent, friend and provider for her all their lives. So, tortured by his feelings he spent months apart from Della struggling with it.
It wasn’t until Ren found Della’s journal where she shared her private thoughts and feelings. Feelings that she had recorded, her feelings for Ren! Realizing the love, he felt for Della was parallel to his own. But how would they move forward from here?
