BEGUILING by Alex Lucian: Release Blitz, Teasers. Giveaway & Mary’s Review
Wow, Alex Lucian has definitely hit it right between the uprights with Beguiling!! His first book, Tempting, totally blew my mind! I knew then that I would read anything Alex writes. I love how Alex pulls you into the writing and keeps you enthralled till the end. I will admit that Beguiling was a lot different than Tempting but it was a good, solid read. I loved the humor, I mean belly rolling laughs – a lot, and it’s part of what made this book so good.
Leo Madsen and Scarlet Jennings grew up as neighbors and had been childhood buddies. That all changed as they got older. Leo got into football and ran with a different crowd than Scarlet. His life was full of football, friends, parties and girls. He’s cocky, arrogant and gorgeous but none the less a proverbial thorn in the side. Scarlet, on the other hand, spent most of her time with her studies. She was diligent and worked hard to excel to please her parents. With all the added pressure of studying she has little time for a social life.
Their friendship morphed into one of animosity. Leo was relentless in teasing Scarlett and referring to her as Church girl. Not to be outdone, Scarlett was pretty disgusted by Leo’s manwhore ways. They became each other’s biggest foe.
Both Leo and Scarlet are home for the summer. Leo is the star quarterback in college with dreams of being drafted by the NFL. Scarlet, is preparing to enter veterinary school in the fall. And now, thanks to their mothers, they are going to be stuck with Scarlet driving Leo to FB workouts all summer. Leo had totaled his car “texting while driving” and had no car for the summer. Somehow I feel a PSA announcement here! lol
The drives to school were a battle of wills and words. And then one day Leo goes a little too far with a illicit insult. Not only did he cross a line with Scarlet but he had also feed into her insecurity of just how inexperienced she was in comparison to him. Feeling the dickwad he had been and wanting to make things right with Scarlet he invited her out for a drink. This drink soon lead to a lot of drinking. Not to mention some pretty hot sex, initiated by Scarlet, when he got her home. Sex that Leo was not soon to forget.
Making things a little more alluring, imagine where Leo’s mind went we he found Scarlet’s bucket list? Yep, things that the inexperienced Scarlet had never done. Leo being the dirty boy he was would be more than happy to help her accomplish those. One of the sexiest part of Beguiling, to me, was when Leo was sexting with Scarlet. Holy moly if that wasn’t scorching hot!! There was also a side of Leo that hadn’t been seen up until now….a sweet, kind Leo. This side was one that could make you putty in his hands.
There are so many other things I would love to tell you but then it would totally ruin everything for you. Leo and Scarlet’s journey will warm your heart and leave you feeling happy. I only wish that there had been more to their story.
