Excerpt:
Sobs fill the silence of the room. “Dad, leave mom alone,” I shout, pushing
on his chest and shoving him back a couple of feet. Like a tenacious pit
bull after a chew toy – this fucker just keeps coming.
Each time he comes back harder, finally snaking by me. Gripping her upper
arm in his meaty fist, he digs his fingers deep into her skin, and uses his
other arm to block me.
Cries from the pain and the fear he instills mix with the stench of alcohol
emanating from his body. His other hand goes to her neck, gripping under
her chin. The shriek piercing my ears is cut off when he squeezes.
Her face changes color.
Red. Then purple. Finally, heading into the blue family. Blue’s always been
my favorite color, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen this exact shade before.
It’s the color of sadness and the ocean of tears my mom has cried over this
asshole.
Everything happens fast. Her eyes open wide and bulge as the pressure of
his fingers increases.
She can’t breathe and I’m paralyzed standing behind him, watching it
happen.
Transfixed with fascination, I stare. Her eyes lock on me, her love shining
through the agony she’s experiencing. The terror and pleading in her eyes
fades to acceptance.
She knows this time she’s going to die.
Tears flow uncontrolled down her cheeks and a sense of relief washes over
me.
This is the last time he’ll ever make her cry.

| Wow, what a way to wrap up a series! Delude is Lana and Zack’s story. The big question for me was how the hell Jacob would bring these two together as a couple. Lana was sweet inside and out, Zack the bad boy stalker who abducted and haunted Janny. Both, Zack and Lana, had suffered their share of heartbreak, pain and are broken.
Zack grew up in an abusive home where his dad would often beat his mother as well as him. Eventually his dad killed his mother leaving Zack the recipient of more abuse until Wow, what a way to wrap up a series! Delude is Lana and Zack’s story. The big question for me was how the hell Jacob would bring these together as a couple. Lana was sweet inside and out, Zack the bad boy stalker who abducted and haunted Janny. Both, Zack and Lana, had suffered their share of heartbreak, pain and are broken. Zack grew up in an abusive home where his dad would often beat his mother as well as him. Eventually his dad killed his mother leaving Zack the recipient of more abuse until his death. Filled with revenge at not being the one to kill his dad he has to refocus his plan of revenge. Honing his sights on Kenna as his next victim. That is until he was caught off guard when he laid eyes on Lana out one night with her friend Kenna. What would happen as Lana becomes Zack’s new obsession? Lana is a smart yet shy girl. A Brainiac. In college by the age of 15 and always out of sorts with the groups she was around because of the age thing. She later dated and became engaged to a man who held hidden secrets of his own. It wasn’t until his unexpected death that those became known. This left Lana devastated and broken. Moving to New York to leave behind the memories of this tragedy she went to work for Kyle and Derek. Then as luck would have it Zack is able to move in next door to Lana! While his obsession with her continues to grow, the next step is to become meshed into her life. Befriending Lana he slowly maneuvers his way into her heart little by little. The biggest surprise of all is the shift we see in Zack. Being around Lana brings out a whole different Zack. A Zack that wanted to be a better man. The patience that Zack took, not rushing Lana into a relationship she wasn’t ready for was painstakingly sweet. Secretly fearing for what would happen to Lana, I was surprised as his little Angel was onboard fulfilling his kinky desires. And holy Toledo …. the swing, the cuffs!! WTF, who would have thought? It becomes abundantly clear that the two of them were equally enamored with the other! What would become of this relationship between Zake and Lana? Is it possible for them to have an HEA? Jacob did a fantastic job of ending this series. I can only say that I’m eager to see what he cooks up next for us! ****Be sure to read all of Jacob’s other books Quake, Quiver, Delve, Tied.
