Switching off the lights, I followed her out onto the sidewalk, locking the door behind us. “I need a quick shower and change of clothes. Want to come up with me?”
“Sure.”
I was following her up the stairs to my apartment, looking at her ass and wondering if she had sexual rules and how long it would take me to break them, when I realized she was still talking.
Shit, had she just asked me a question?
At the top of the stairs, she turned around and faced me. “So? Are you going to?”
I stood close. Ridiculously close. So close I could smell her—vanilla and lemon—and she could probably smell me—sweat and motor oil.
“Am I going to what?”I asked, looking at her lips.
She licked them. “Listen to me.”
“Oh. Yeah. I am.” But at that moment, I was pretty sure I was going to do something else to her too.
Suddenly she stepped back. “Good,”she said, her cheeks flushed pink. “On second thought, I think I’ll wait outside. I’m a little warm, and there’s a nice breeze.”
“Okay. I’ll be out in a few minutes.”
Nodding, she turned and descended the stairs so slowly, I wondered if she was dizzy. I watched her hand sliding along the wooden rail, thinking dirty thoughts.
On the landing, she pushed the door open and disappeared from view, but I still couldn’t breathe right.
What would she have done if I’d put my mouth on hers like I’d wanted to just now? Would she have kissed me back? Would she have welcomed my hands on her skin? Or would she have kneed me in the balls and told me to keep my filthy fingers to myself?
She wasn’t like any other girl I’d ever met, which was both the problem and the allure. I didn’t know how to read her.
But damn, I wanted her something fierce.
I took an ice cold shower, hoping it would help.
It didn’t.

| Melanie Harlow is among one of the best authors when it comes to writing a small-town romance. I loved her Cloverleaf Farms series which we are gifted with a cameo from it in this book too! If Drive Me Wild is any indication of what is to come the Bellamy Creek Series is going to be pretty darn amazing too!! So, sit back, put your feet up and get settled in for a bit of small-town life and gossip, plus a whole lot of swooning, some pretty hot sexy times and falling in love with Griff and Blair!!
Poor Blair, it seems like everything that she is trying to do is going awry! Blair grew up in a wealthy family and had never wanted for anything growing up. That was not until after her dad lost everything they had due to tax fraud. It was now that she knew the time had come for her to go strike out on her own. Buying a car, packing her bag, she set off for Cloverleaf Farms to begin her dream job of starting a bakery. Call it karma, fate, happenstance or maybe a little bit of all three. But I am sure that Blair would tell you it was the sign advertising Betty Frankel’s Apple Pie that had her detouring into Bellamy Creek. With the ill-fated timing of her blowing out a tire that would forever change her life. Needless to say, at this same time Griffin Dempsey and his buddies just happened to be in the Bulldog Pub and heard it. Going outside to check things out Griff was unexpectedly stunned at the gorgeous vision in the white dress. Looking like a princess in distress, wearing a white dress, easily mistaken for a wedding dress. After getting things sorted and an assessment of the damage Griff was left with this Blair needing a place to stay. Let’s talk a little bit about Griff. Griff is a local boy who has returned home from several tours of duty in Afghanistan. He is dedicated to running the repair garage that was owned by both his grandfather and dad. He wants to continue the legacy of the family owned business in Bellamy Creek. But with a new competitor now in town he has seen some of the business syphoned off by them. He is also a guy with a really great heart and very protective of family and friends. But has also been burned by a woman too. Hence his rules and not wanting to be in another relationship. Back to Blair needing a place to stay. Being late and not having anywhere to go at the moment Griff breaks his number one rule, no sleepovers… but with Blair sleeping on his couch, it is not quite a sleepover. The funny thing is that the next morning they are both the talk of the town. After being seen by someone with loose lips it seems that Griff has gotten married!! And he was seen entering his apartment late at night with a woman in a white wedding dress. It is hilarious when the whole town is talking about them everywhere too. Wouldn’t you know that adding to this, there continues to be no available rooms for Blair!! Well, it seems like Griff is going to have a house guest a little long. One thing that Griff did not count on was just how addictive Blair would become to him. She was someone so different … a light to his darkness with him being a moth drawn to it. In spite of Blair being a constant chatter box, what Blair added to Griff’s life is a lot of spark, sass, plus some pretty amazing, yet salacious and spicy bedtime stories!! wink, wink Of course it does not take long for them to lose themselves with some incredibly hot chemistry either. It also helps that momma Dempsey and his sister, Cheyenne, was eager to help this budding romance along too. I loved the flirtatious banter between these two and just how well they fit each other. Even though this was kind of an insta-love story it did not feel fake or rushed like they sometimes do. You just knew these two were meant for each other. But what happens when things begin to get a little bit complicated and Griff realizes he has broken all his rules? Is there be any hope that this romance will find it’s HEA? |
