Emma Jane and Knox Montgomery were sweet on each other from a young age. They were also high school sweethearts. Even going to different colleges didn’t affect their love for each other. It was a given that they would get married and spend their lives together.

But all of that changed on their wedding day. When Emma was left with the feeling that everything between her an Knox was a mistake. One that she knew she couldn’t live with so she took off running …away from her wedding, the guest and Knox standing at the altar. With no idea of where she is going you have to laugh a bit when she ended up in a gay bar where she meets Beckett Jones. Beckett just happened to be there with his brother to celebrate his brother’s birthday.

We find out pretty quickly that Beckett is a quarterback for the local pro team. He and Emma strike up a deal for her to be his plus one for social events. No sex, just friends! So, for the next 8 years Beckett and Emma are inseparable. They are true BFF’s and quiet the talk of the social scene. Are they or aren’t they a couple?

During this time Emma has also established herself in her career. Using her marketing degree, she has excelled at what she does becoming a valuable part of the company she works for. But when there is news that the company is being sold that leaves her position in question. Especially since the new owner is going to trim the workforce.

Imagine the surprise when Emma finds out that the new owner is none other than her ex fiancée!! Yeah, it’s time for the proverbial s**t to hit the fan! Even after all these years Knox is still angry with her and how he handles this is with a dish of revenge. As this revenge begins to take its toll on Emma it also begins to pull at Knox’s heart strings. I’m gonna tell you now that I didn’t like Knox at first but be the end of the book I was totally swooning!

The push and pull between these two just adds more fuel to the fire. Yet at the same time it leaves both of them thinking about what they meant to each other at one time. Add to that the white-hot chemistry between them, lest not forget to mention Beckett’s playing the friend card with Emma…. just to pull Knox’s chain! Would Knox and Emma have a chance? The bigger question is would they ever be able to reconcile their past?

A super fun book with a dose of southern hospitality, lot of feels and angst. Lest not forget Beckett, the man who seemed to be the smartest of the bunch. I can only say that I would love to have a BFF like him! I can hardly wait to have his book coming in 2018!! (less)
