The kiss burns a hole right through me and blood rushes to my groin. I’m in over my head—Who cares?—and I groan, deepening our connection. My hands slide down her cheeks, her throat, then to her arms at her sides. Our joined breaths mingling, I trace my thumbs over the rapid pulse in her wrists. My head swims with images of her body draped on top of me— A cry comes from her as she breaks away from our kiss. “Jerk! Don’t do that. I don’t know you!” “You liked it, babe.” “What? No.” “I’m Dillon.” “Um, I don’t care. Step away.” “What’s your name? You got a number?” Dillon McQueen does not give up easily. When he sees what he wants, he goes after it. He also sometimes talks about himself in the third person. “Are you a freshman? I play football. Quarterback.” Usually that’s enough to catch a girl’s interest. She shakes her head, looking almost surprised as she touches her lips briefly. I think she mutters pigskin-toting Casanova. Then, she flips around. “No, wait! Don’t go!” I say, reaching out for her, but she’s gone, daring one look over her shoulder as she disappears into the crowd of people. I take off after her, navigating through the throng, jostling into dancers. One of them, a big barrel-chested guy, shoves at me when I bump into him. I fall on my ass. Heart pounding, I scramble back up, dirt and grass on me as I dart through the crowd and look around. My height gives me a decent vantage point, but she’s vanished. Off in the distance, the football guys hoot my name, then chant Venus over and over. Well, hell. The bonfire got me good. She’s gone. Legend 1, Dillon 0.

Loved this book!!! Ilsa writes amazing sports romances and I Promise You is her latest that does not disappoint. There are so many things I loved about IPY…. the sassy, quirky, headstrong Serena as well as Dillion, whom I thought was at times quite arrogant but could really make you swoon. The banter, sexy and swoony times will keep you engaged throughout the book. We find ourselves back at Waylon College and know about the annual bonfire they have. Everyone knows the legend of the bonfire – that the first girl you kiss your freshman year at the bonfire will be the one you never forget! Wouldn’t you know this is where Dillion met Serena. After being totally mesmerized watching her dance, he headed straight to her to join her. Unable to resist her any longer he made his way to her and ended up kissing her. A hot as hell kiss that was unlike any other he had ever had. As soon as it happened, Serena had disappeared from sight. And he looked for her like crazy too without success. It is a few years later and Dillion is quarterbacking for Waylon now. He lives, eats, and breathes football with hopes of being drafted by the NFL. But like most of college football players, he is very much a lady’s man. Yet when he runs into her in the Piggly Wiggly it is Serena who seems to not know who he is. Guess who has his work cut out for him? Yep, Dillion… and just how is he going to win her heart? Serena is finishing up her graduate work, besides that she has had her heart broken by her cheating ex and being in a relationship is the last thing she wants. But wouldn’t you know that as much as she is trying to avoid Dillion, she is assigned a project by her professor that will have her covering the football team. Wonder how this is going to play out? Sounds like Dillion has his work cut out for him. I loved Dillion’s determination and persistent to work his way into Serena’s heart. I mean, how long could Serena resist the sweet, sexy guy? The more time they spent together the more they found they had in common. The closer they got it was inevitable their chemistry would explode. Dillion and Serena are just so perfect together. But Dillion has a secret. Adored these heck out of these two. Dillion and Serena’s story has tons of feels, humor and sexy times with a wonderful group of friends to round out the perfect story!! I’m seriously hoping that we get a book for Sinclair. hint, hint
