J.D. Hawkins is absolutely one of my very favorite Authors!! He’s an elusive man who keeps his profile under wraps. It’s only fitting that there is the “Bad Boy” profile picture as well as Teeshirt Saturdays to keep us guessing and maybe one day…..
But in all seriousness his books are fun, sweet and totally sexy….. and they always leave you with a feel good HEA! JD is also a ton of fun. His quick wit and sarcasm keeps you in stitches. There are just so many things about this man I truly love and (keep this one a secret) he’s a really good guy too! He’s undoubtedly a romantic at heart and writes some of the best sexy times around.
If you haven’t met JD yet I highly encourage you to pick up one of his books! Check out his Amazon and Author page posted below. Oh, and he has a secret group too! Just ask about it.

Q & A
You’re an LA guy, if given the choice to live anywhere in the world would you stay or go? Where would that be and what attracts you there?
I lived in New York and have traveled all over the world. I’m a city guy so I’d always prefer to live in a city. I need to be in an interesting place, near a lot of people, culture and music. But I also need to be near the beach. That’s why LA is the perfect place for me. The culture, the weather, the people, the beach. It’s the best city in the world in my opinion.
Have you always wanted to be a writer? What drew you to erotica?
No, I wanted to do something “practical”, I wanted to be financially stable. Being an author was always a long shot in terms of commercial success. And then came Kindle and 50 shades and made self-publishing of erotica books a profitable business. So this, combining with the need to escape corporate America was the main trigger.
Since the majority of romance writers are female, do you feel like it has been harder?
Not really. It’s actually easier to get attention as a male author.
There’s nothing better than a Bad Boy who gets his HEA and this is one thing you do so well. What other genres do you see yourself exploring?
For now, I’ll stick with what I do and what’s working. I don’t want to experiment yet. It’s too risky right now. But who know, I think romance readers are still developing their taste and might get tired and bored with this Alpha Male HEA genre. You gotta keep listening to the readers.
What are the chances of you doing a sports or motorcycle romance?
I’m open to it. I’m doing MMA romance right now so it has some sports. I’m not a football guy so this would not be easy for me.
Do you ever see yourself writing something dark and twisted? Why, why not?
Not really, I’m a pretty happy, positive guy and it’s easy for me to write like that. I’m not saying you need to be dark and twisted to write that but I would need to do a lot of research on the “topic”.
For those who don’t already know, you love practicing MMA at the gym, how long have you been doing this? What is it about MMA that drew you to this sport?
I’ve done martial arts since I was a kid. I did Judo, Karate, Krav Maga and Muay Thai. As an adult I find it the only way I can get motivated to keep in shape. I don’t have to convince myself to go to the gym, I actually look forward to it. It’s addictive. And I am motivated to be in shape so that I can keep doing it until I’m 90 years old. It’s also not just physical, it’s mental and it’s a game and it’s competitive.
I am personally excited and eagerly awaiting the release of your next book, an MMA Romance. What took you so long to decide to write MMA? Will there be more MMA?
It didn’t take me long, I’ve only been publishing books for a year and a half now. I’ll see how this one sells and decide based on that. If it does great, I’ll do more of that genre.
Self-publishing has given you the freedom to do as you desire when writing. If you were offered a traditional publishing deal would you jump at the chance?
It depends on the advance they’ll offer. It’s going to have to be worth it financially. I’m won’t do it for the prestige or status, I enjoy the freedom of self-publishing.
Leaving the corporate world and cubicle life behind has allowed you the freedom to write fulltime. What has been the best part of this new found freedom?
Not wearing uncomfortable clothes, not commuting for 2 hours a day, not hanging out with conservative up tight people for 10 hours a day.
In the short time you have been writing you have developed a great fan base. What has surprised/pleased you the most about your followers?
The best part and the part that I wasn’t really expecting is that a lot of them became friends. I could not imaging you can get so close to people you never met and who don’t know what you look like or what’s your real name.
Your Mrs. H sounds like such an awesome lady! When you and Mrs. H have down time together where/what do you like to do with it?
We’re really good friends and we not only love each other but we also really like each other. So we can do whatever, we don’t have to “do” something together, we can just hang out.
When you are not writing, what is your favorite way to spend your time?
With friends or with my wife or getting punched in the face.
Tell us something that would surprise everyone. That’s hard, I think you know so much about me already. Okay, here is something surprising:
I haven’t seen the movie 50 Shades of Grey yet (I’m planning to).
If there was one thing you could leave as your legacy, what would that be?
Legacy? I don’t think I’m important enough to leave a legacy. Maybe just the awareness of how important the number 69 is.
