EXCERPT
I used to think she couldn’t resist me, but she had no problem earlier this week. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to Ms. Noelle. Let’s see if she still can. “I’ll be right back.”
“What?” my mom asks, watching me get out of the car. “Where are you going? The light’s going to turn green any second.”
I keep walking.
She sees me. Even though her pretty eyes are hidden behind big sunglasses, I can figure they’re probably damn wide right now. Reaching for the truck door lock, her finger pushes it down just as I arrive. She can kid herself like that. She knows deep down that I’ll never hurt her, but I might pressure her into giving me a little of her time.
Standing on the other side of her door, I knock. Delilah finally looks up and points at the light. It’s green. I shrug. I make the lame twist of the wrist roll down your window motion with my hand because I have a feeling she might not understand if I pretend to push a button to roll it down.
“Get back in your car, Jason,” she says through the glass.
“No. Roll down your window.” To sugarcoat it, I add, “Please.”
“Why?”
“What do you mean why? I want to talk to you and I don’t want shout through the glass.”
Huffing, the glass slides down slowly. “What is it?” She keeps her hands on the steering wheel and her grip seems to tighten just a bit.
She glances my way, so I say, “I want to see you.”
“You’re seeing me, Jason, so if that’s all there is, I’ll be going no—”
The glass starts to roll up, but I clamp my palm over it. She releases the button and looks up at me. “I don’t know what happened the other day, what turned your mood so quickly, but I’d like another chance for us to talk this time.”
“It’s not a good idea.”
“It’s a great idea, actually. All you have to say is yes.”
“No.”
My smile tilts into a smirk. “You haven’t changed much.”
“Then you haven’t been paying attention.”

MARY’S 5 STAR REVIEW
Solace is an EPIC love story!! It will capture your heart, not to mention you will not be able to put this book down! A second chance love filled with so much steam, emotion, heat. Characters that will wrap themselves around your heart. Totally sweet and swoony. SL Scott did not disappoint and is definitely one of my fav reads of the year.
The setting is in a small country town of McKinney. Jason Koster is the local football team star quarterback. Delilah Noelle was a cheerleader. Jason and Delilah were a couple, young and in love. They thought they would be together forever.
But things begin to get confusing for Noelle. Jason has been given a full scholarship to play football for college, he’d be leaving while she stayed behind. Fears that were instilled in her lead her to make decisions that would end up hurting both her and Jason. Leaving them both broken hearted.
Life moved on during Jason’s time in college. When he heard that Delilah was married he felt betrayed, hurt and chose not to return home. He worked at a variety of jobs over the next few years but never was Delilah far from his thoughts. At the end of one his jobs he began to question the restlessness and the unknown that invaded his thoughts.
A big question of what home held for him and what going home would happen if he did. Returning to McKinney you knew it would only a matter of time before Jason and Delilah see each other. What will happen when they do? When Jason heard that Delilah was no longer married there would be no stopping him.
Even though the sight of Jason stirred deep, old feelings that always resided in Delilah, could she trust him. I loved how persistent Jason was. How he was able to get through Delilah’s guarded heart. Finding out that she had never gotten over him either. The hope they would be together again.
As the many lies and betrayals that had torn these two apart began to surface I couldn’t help but hope this would bring them back together. OMG, Jason was so amazing. His patience, how protective he was of her, his love for Delilah, allowing her the time she needed to be comfortable with each other again. To reaffirm their love for each other. A fear that she hid from Jason.
Jason was simply amazing, the perfect BBF…sexy, sweet, kind, thoughtful yet oh so patient. Gah!! Delilah had secrets about the years Jason was away…. things that she kept to herself. In spite of appearing so strong she still lived in fear.
Would these two broken souls redeem each other? Will they find love and happiness be at the end of this journey?

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She’s obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she’s a pro.
