SOME SORT OF LOVE by Melanie Harlow: Blog Tour, Giveaway & Mary’s Review
On the surface, I have it all—a career I adore, a loving family, the Nixon metabolism but not the Nixon ears, and a salary that supports my lavish taste in designer shoes, fine wine, and lacy lingerie…but I have no one to share it with.
Until the day I run into him—my one night stand from college with the cocky smile, let’s-get-out-of-here eyes, and dirty, dirty mouth.
Levi Brooks is six feet four inches of hot bearded fantasy. A sexy single dad with broad shoulders, strong hands, and a fantastically big…heart. (I mean, it’s massive. And generous. And it pumps so hard… um. Sorry. Lost my place.)
But he lives for his son, and he’s keeping me at a distance because he thinks I deserve someone better—a man who can give me more time, more attention, more of himself. He doesn’t believe he could ever be enough.
But he’s wrong.
He’s everything.
MARY’S 5 STAR REVIEW
Some Kind of Love is a book that will absolutely consume you! Melanie Harlow gave us everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, you want in a love story…and so much more. It was a warm your heart, yet emotional, journey of two people who had so much going on in their lives that somehow they had forgotten to make time for themselves. Levi Brooks is so deliciously yummy that you can’t help but love this kind, sweet, gentle bearded man. Jillian is a Nixon girl, enough said, how could not love her?
Levi Brooks is an architect and single parent of an 8 year old autistic son. His life absolutely revolves around his totally relentless love and devotion for his son, Scotty. A son who he’s spent a lifetime loving, protecting and basically had abandoned any personal time for himself. His struggle to be the father he thinks he has to be feels real and at times is heartbreaking. To love this little person so much that his own needs are neglected. I loved the emotion you could feel with the tenderness and sensitivity in how Levi showed to his son. Scotty was truly his number one.
Jillian Nixon is the oldest daughter of the Nixon family. Beautiful, confident, successful she seems to have life by the tail. A successful Pediatric practice, a home with all the trimming. What more could she ask for? The one thing she doesn’t have, a man! Seeing her younger sisters with men in their lives only made the emptiness in hers more profound.
What are the chances of these two running into each other at Jillian’s sister’s wedding? Pretty good, especially when Jillian had a little bit too much champagne to drink and runs smack dab into Levi. Oh, but this gets even better! An evening eleven years earlier at college brought Jillian and Levi back to a memory of a very close, intimate rendezvous. Just one steamy night!
Meeting again also reignited that spark from years ago. A realization that they had both clung to memories of that titillating night through all the years only made this meeting more heated. As they spoke it seemed to fuel their desire to further explore this former liaison. Ending the evening exchanging numbers.
Now I want to be totally honest here …. when these two finally get together it’s KA-Boom! They undoubtedly had some of the most explosive, dirty talking, hotter than h*ll, on every surface sex. There is a certain shower scene that is positively panty melting! I can also promise that will not be the only one.
While these two seemed to be evolving rapidly into coupledom there is part of the relationship that seemed doomed. Jillian was ready to move forward and welcome Scotty into her life while Levi would drag his feet with tons of reasons why not to. His inability in mesh his love life with Jillian and his home life with Scotty presented one big dilemma. Most importantly leaving Jillian feeling that she was not significant enough to be part of Levi and Scotty’s world.
Would his reluctance destroy the love and happiness he had found with Jillian or would he be able to overcome his fears?
