Synopsis:
A LITTLE FAKE RELATIONSHIP NEVER HURT ANYONE . . .
Kate Massie has big dreams-they just haven’t worked out. Yet. In the meantime, she spends her days clerking for a judge and her nights fantasizing about her tall, dark, and sexy gym crush. So when she runs into him one night, she’s shocked to realize he was her shy, nerdy junior-prom date. But that isn’t where the surprises end . . .
James Abell needs a date to his sister’s wedding. So when Kate agrees, he’s relieved . . . until one little lie turns their wedding date into a full-blown fake relationship. Only it doesn’t feel fake-not the toe-curling kisses and definitely not the electricity. Neither of them is looking for something real . . . but they just might fall for their own little white lie.
MARY’S 4 STAR REVIEW
Kelly Eadon’s debut novel, The Wedding Date, is sweet, funny and intriguing. A quick read and one that keeps you thoroughly entertained and leaves you feeling satisfied.
Kate Massie has returned to her childhood hometown of Belmont after a 10 year absence. Not that she had ever planned to but because it was the only place she could find a job. With the internship she had in place unexpectedly withdrawn she was lucky to find that.
Part of Kate’s daily routine is her trip to the gym. It’s there that this sexy, hot and sculpted guy has caught her eye….so much so she finds herself fantasizing about him. Unbeknownst to Kate is that this sex God is James her date to junior prom years before. To make it more interesting is the fact that James recognizes Kate. In his mind he’s wondering how to can hook up with her again.
Now here is where the fun begins! When a mutual friend of Kate and James set the two up on this “fake” date to his sister’s wedding. James and his slightly off-balanced girlfriend have recently broken up leaving him without a date for the wedding. Kate’s acceptance of this arrangement solves the problem. Now imagine the shock and surprise when Kate finds out that gym guy is actually James!!
With the wedding fast approaching Kate and James have to get to know each other again to pull of this fake coupledom. It’s really cute how they both have a palpable attraction between them yet they both agree to friend zone the other. Would they be able to stop at just friends or become friends with benefits? Also what would happen when Kate met James crazy family and ex-girlfriend be too much for Kate to handle?
It was refreshing to see just how much James family took to Kate. There was an actual warmness and acceptance of Kate. Most surprising was James Mother’s attentiveness toward Kate. Not only did Kate soak up the warmth and love she received from his family but she genuinely liked them.
James and Kate were very likeable and this book was a fun read.
